Lashaye & Mark (a beautiful beginning)

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Back in early August, on my return from north america, I spent the afternoon with 2 of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.  Lashaye & Mark’s love for each other was so evident in all the moments I shared with them and it shows in their photographs.  I am uber excited to be photographing their wedding tomorrow in Newcastle. These images were taken around the CBD of Sydney. Now there is a twist, Lashaye and I used to date.. and no It wasn’t weird photographing her engagement and it will be awesome to shoot her wedding.. people move on! :-)

In other news, after Lashaye & Mark’s wedding in newcastle, I will be travelling to Perth for a Jesh De Rox workshop. Jesh is one of the finest photographers in the world and I always come back super inspired after seeing Jesh.

Pete & Toni’s Wedding (faith, hope & love)

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

On Saturday, 31st of October, two beautiful souls made a committment to each other, a committment “always & forever” to be life partners, best friends, and be married in Bundaberg, QLD.

I met Pete & Toni a few years ago at one of their friends weddings in Moree and when it was time for them to be married, I got an email from them asking if I would be able to be their photographer.

I became not only their photographer, but a close friend I’d like to think. Also, after their engagement shoot Toni went away and wrote a song for my website, which is the 3 words song that you’ve heard on here before! Well today, we are introducing a new song called “Always & Forever”. Toni wrote this song for Pete as a surprise for the wedding day and it played while they signed the register. The song will now be available on the website along with the old favourite “3 words”.

We had some stunning locations to photograph, including the Bundaberg Rum Factory, an old boat wreck area, and a nice open field at the very last light. I couldn’t have asked for any more!

Here are a few images from the wedding, although I feel that I may end up doing a second post with more images at some point in the future.

Pete thought I was a bit weird when I asked him to stand on a bench in the kitchen. There was a skylight in the room and it created the coolest light. I showed him the image on the back of the camera and he didn’t think I was too weird afterwards :-)

I added this pic to my facebook after the wedding, and judging by the amount of comments, it was rather popular!

My first shoot with James.

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Hey guys,

On Wednesday last week, I went on my very first photo shoot with James. It was like nothing either of us have done before. We went out to Blue Hole to shoot Emily and Pru Stark doing some dance poses in some fantastic outfits. Pru is  now one of the only people in the world who can say she went swimming at Blue Hole in the rain in a tutu :)

When we got there James put a camera in my hand and told me to go for it. To start with I just took photos of what ever James told the girls to do but after a while I put a few of my ideas in as well. My most important job on the shoot was to get Pru up on top of large rocks and then get her back down again… that made for some interesting grazes and cuts on the bottom of my feet, although I didn’t notice at the time because I was having too much fun.

Another of my very important jobs was to hold onto Emily so that she didn’t go floating off down the river and falling off waterfalls, I was wet in my jeans up to my knee so I figured I might as well get in the water and join in with the girls. We had some fun doing hair flicks in the water while James kept taking photos and laughing at out facial expressions as we came out of the water.

It was rather cold when we got out which might prompt some people to call what we did crazy, but I call it commitment to the job.

Feel free to check out the few pics posted on the blog and remember, if you want you contact me, send your thoughts to laura@3words.com.au :D

This is the product of my pain… it took a lot to get her up there and even more to get her down.
