Monday, September 13th, 2010Love looks like (3)
Friday, April 23rd, 2010During Catalina & Lachlans “a beautiful beginning” shoot in Balmain a few days ago I was reminded of the art that love creates. I am blessed to act as a delayed mirror of peoples love. My place is to make a space for the love to flow freely then to step back and allow it to create art that I simply witness and create proof of.

Love looks like:
Monday, March 15th, 2010It’s my desire to show what love looks like: in an image. Joe & Madeleine showed me it to me, so we can collectively share it with the world.

Amanda & Jeff (a beautiful beginning)
Saturday, August 1st, 2009Today, i’m typing this, sitting in a lovely lounge room in a house that belongs to my wonderful photographer friend Perry Thompson. I’m listening to the beautiful, amazing & talented Toni Knapman playing the Three Words song that she wrote for this website.. and I’m wearing my favourite shirt.. drinking Canada Dry Ginger Ale…I’m feeling the dull ache of a workout slowly dissapear.. and I’m enjoying life! Since arriving in north america just over 3 weeks ago, I have barely had a full night sleep.. but for some reason it hasn’t affected me. I’ve also skipped every second meal, and I still feel on top of the world.
I’ve done many incredible things in the past few weeks here in North America and my time here is about to come to an end. To jog my memory later, I’m going to put a quick list of things here that I’ve done.
Visited New York, met an angel, ate pizza, drunk ginger ale, shared my heart, met Bon Jovi, was photographed by my hero Jesh De Rox, met a man who will be remembered long after he leaves this earth, shared a meal with a homeless man, shared my love of God so deeply with people, planned something that will change my life forever, listened, made new life long friends, met Lauren Graham, cried, prayed, wrote recorded and filmed a song, photographed 4 weddings, photographed 1 amazing family, have -practiced loving people, met Dan Akroyd, relaxed, spent alot of time on buses and planes & talked on the phone A LOT…
and also…Photographed 1 amazing “a beautiful beginning” shoot for Amanda & Jeff. A huge congratulations to Amanda, who last week won the Beach volleyball Open tournament here in Canada!
Tomorrow, I will be photographing their wedding

Bek & Pete (a beautiful beginning)
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009Welcome dear friends
It’s with great pleasure once again that I share with you Bek & Pete’s (a beautiful beginning) experience in front of the camera and with each other a few weeks ago on a beautiful Armidale morning.
Bek is an aspiring photographer herself (www.rebeccading.com.au) and is doing really beautiful work. Bek has come along with me a few times to photograph weddings and engagements I’m very proud of her knowing that I have taught her a few things!
I will be photographing Bek and Pete’s Wedding in August in Walcha. In case you’re wondering what the little boxes they are holding are, they’re old cameras! Box Brownies!

Toni & Pete (a beautiful beginning) Faith, Hope & Love.
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009Firstly, welcome to my new Inspiration Journal.
I think it’s only fitting to begin with Toni & Pete’s – a beautiful beginning shoot.
Toni & Pete were among the first people that I shared the Three Words project with. With their words “Faith, Hope & Love”, we created these Inspired images for them.
After the shoot Toni and I spoke of the need for a song for the website that was being dreamt up at the time. I gave Toni the words, “Three Words, 2 People, 1 Love, and she created the song that you can now hear playing on the new Three Words by James Day website.
Toni, I really don’t know how to thank you adequately for blessing me with this song. All I can say is Thank You!

Don’t you just love the way the sun peeks just over Toni’s shoulder.

I love the soft light in this one.

A new favourite of mine.

This location is my favourite place to shoot anywhere in the world.

I have this image hanging in my studio

Yep, there are 3 Petes.

If you know Pete & Toni, make sure you ask Pete what he was thinking of when this shot was taken.

Toni is totally into Pete.

The light is incredible!

Tilt shift lens yumminess.

Ahhhh.. I love this one too!
